Smooth as Silk
I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but the difference was immediately clear. Using the same mic I've known for years it was suddenly more three dimensional. It was at both times warmer and clearer and stood out more eloquently in the mix. In many ways it was the quality of sound that I had been missing in my vocal chain for years, that despite having a 5012 and an Avalon 737sp.

Doesn't seem sufficient for the price
I'm not musical expert, but overall, it didn't give me what I needed. Playing guitar through this is not quite what it's made for (imho), especially when it's then heavily distorted. It's very rounded. Maybe for clean guitar - a different story, but I also compared it to HA73 EQ which costs less and offers way more sound shaping functionality - that one you can buy and be more ensured that it will be used for more use cases.
Singing was a secondary thing for me, so I didn't tried that since my primary need is not met.
Trim has nice feel and a small notch in the middle that helps to feel where "0" is.

The real thing
The fantastic people at Thomann helped me try the Heritage, Great River RN517 and the Neve1073. I chose the Neve. Sounds amazing. Excellent service as ever!

Good sound
Nice warm and smooth sound. It even makes my Axe FX sound warmer and less digital. Recordings with miced acoustic instruments (guitar & bouzouki) sound great and direct bass and electric guitar sound very good too.

One of the best!
Very good preamp! Just tried it on vocal compared to RME Fireface.
Neve is more present and detailed. Better frequencies.
Every recorded word is processed differently. It gives life to the recorded material. It sings.
Cons: a 1000€ Module does not have a mounting key in the box.
This is the first 500 unit I bought and mounted it into the “Midas” frame. And didn’t have a key.
So after I bought the unit and the frame for more than 1200€, I had to search a mounting key.

My first hardware preamp.
For my years I used the unison preamps on my Apollo and then switching to this I felt a world of difference. I realized straight away that this was the character I was after. You can hear the slight saturation that adds high end without getting too harsh and the slight compression. I also realized that I could hear the difference between my mics a lot clearer. Love it! Also started using it on the mix bus for mixing and I don't think I can do without it any more. This piece of gear is responsible for turning me into a hardware junkie.

Open - Smooth - Warm - Precise
The Neve 1073LB is sounding wonderful.... open, smooth, warm, precise. We are using it mainly with a Neumann M149 or U87 on female pop vocals and it really delivers. We have other Neve/Neve clones such as a Neve 1073 DPA Preamp Stereo, a Chandler TG2 and a Vintech.
You can't go wrong with the Neve 1073LB!

Great Preamp!
This preamp has overall improved my recordings, and given me the professional sound that I've been looking for.
Great for Drums, Bass, Guitar and any mic recording.
