Baton Rouge X11LS/F-W-SCR

I ordered this after returning a cheaper acoustic dreadnought, and the difference in build quality is immediately obvious. The Baton Rouge feels genuinely well made and simply nicer to hold.

A note on looks: in the product photos the top appears to have a bit uneven, weathered finish. In person it's a more restrained, even dark finish. Not a disappointment - just be aware it's subtler than the photos suggest. The open pore finish is a real highlight. It makes the guitar feel like it breathes.

The neck is the reason I bought this guitar, and it delivers. 48mm at the nut is exactly right for me - my fingers finally have room. I also play classical, and coming from a 52mm nut this feels natural rather than cramped. The action arrived low and well set up; fretting is comfortable straight out of the box. The tuners look pleasantly vintage and turn smoothly - I'll report back on tuning stability after a few weeks.

Worth knowing: the body is almost exactly the same size as my full-size classical guitar (Manuel Rodriguez T-65), so I didn't need to buy a second case. Tone is pleasant and articulate. There's seem to be less sustain than on a dreadnought, but the body is noticeably smaller, so it's a fair tradeoff.

Overall: very happy, and motivated to keep going on my guitar journey.

J'ai acheté cette guitare essentiellement pour son manche de 48 mm , et vu son prix , pour l'emporter sans souci en voyage. A l'ouverture du carton , tout est parfait : l'assemblage, les bois, le manche , la pose des frettes ... aucun défaut à constater. Jouée au doigt , c'est du bohneur, le manche est facile, la résonance est bonne et la largeur au sillet de tête me fait oublier ma Guild et ses 44.5 mm où je n'arrivais pas à poser mes doigts. Dommage qu'elle n'existe pas en table massive ! Donc je recommande vivement !
Deux points que j'aimerais compléter : la hauteur des cordes ; pour moi qui joue aux doigts ( blues , folk ... ), c'est la hauteur idéale - c'est bien la première guitare où je n'ai pas à limer le sillet de chevalet ! Ensuite les mécaniques : contrairement à ce que dit un autre avis , aucun problème , je joue en standard ou en open , et je n'ai jamais à reprendre l'accordage , elle le conserve très bien ! Je lui ai adjoint récemment un micro rosace DeArmond ToneBoss qui lui va comme un gant . Pour terminer, c'et le joueur qui fait la guitare ... alors à vous de jouer !

Erst war es mir fast peinlich, eine Sperrholzgitarre für 179,- € bestellt zu haben. Grund für meinen Kauf war u.a. die Sattelbreite von 48 mm. Es stellte sich leider heraus, dass der Saitenabstand kaum größer ist als bei meinen anderen Westerngitarren, mit schmalerem Hals. Allerdings, als ich die Baton Rouge auspackte, gefiel sie mir sofort. Das änderte sich auch nicht, als ich drei winzige Lackierungsfehler auf der Decke bemerkte. Ich besorgte Farben und feine Pinsel und besserte diese Stellen aus. Nachdem ich ein schwarzes Pickguard (Harley Benton), mit weißen Ranken und einem goldenen Kolibri, passend zugeschnitten und aufgeklebt hatte, sah die Gitarre noch besser aus. Ich spendierte mir (und der Gitarre) schließlich noch den „antik“ wirkenden Thomann Elite Case Classic 1. Jetzt sah meine Neuanschaffung so aus, als hätte ich sie irgendwo antiquarisch erworben - eine Augenweide! Da sie auch akzeptabel klingt, bin ich zufrieden. Ob das eine Kaufempfehlung ist, muss jeder selbst entscheiden.
