The sound is very balanced across the strings and in terms of frequencies too, every note is well defined without sounding trebly and the bass are very present without being woofy. It also sounds amazing split (even though their wiring diagrams don't say that it's possible, well, it is).
Overall the best pickup you could ever use for recording.
No need for a preamp. No need for batteries.
