This is a good module but it miss a gain knob for monitors. It only has for headphones. So it send a maximum gain to monitors and you have to adjust it on each monitor individually.

Faulty on arrival

Very frustrated at the moment. The unit is not working and I’m waiting for Thomann team attention. Let’s see how it will go. 1st time I have such experience.

Unter Linux audioserver JACK funktioniert das dynamische kanalrouting nicht richtig. Wenn ich im laufenden Betrieb neue Kanäle zuweise oder in der Kanalübersicht rumklicke, kommt es sofort zu Knacksern und XRuns – mit dem Low-Latency-Kernel sogar noch schneller als mit dem normalen Kernel. mit pulse audio funktioniert aber alles. Leider läuft das Configurationstool nicht unter linux so das ich es zum konfigurieren immer in alten Win10 laptop umstecken muss. Die konfigurations- GUI ist experimentell - umfangreich und umständlich.

Trotzdem bleibe ich vorerst dabei, einfach wegen dem Formfaktor und weil ich damit Main Out und Kopfhörer direkt im Rack habe. Ich mag es, alles im Kasten zu haben, ohne extra Interface daneben. Schade ist nur, dass man aus dem ES-9 per ADAT nur zwei Kanäle rausbekommt. Synchronisieren mit einem anderen Interface geht – soweit ich weiß – auch nicht, was heißt, dass ich immer umstecken muss, wenn ich von Musikmachen auf mein normales Interface wechseln will. Super finde ich auch das die ein/ausgänge anhand des signals leuchten.

Für mich wäre ein zukünftiges Eurorack-Interface, das unter Linux stabiler läuft, volle ADAT-Anbindung hat und sich clocken lässt, echt ein Traum. Bis dahin bleibe ich halt beim ES-9, aktuell sehe ich kein besseres produkt für mich auf den markt um kompakt viele kanäle im eurorack unterzubringen.

L'arme fatale de l'eurorack

PROS: Une carte son embarquée dans un eurorack avec 14 entrées et 8 sorties pouvant router de l'audio comme du CV/Gate c'est carrément le délire...
Fonctionne hyper bien.
CONS: Les softs sont assez hermétiques (et pourtant je suis informaticien !) et je ne m'en sers donc pas vraiment.
Côté pratique : une carte son dans le rack c'est génial, mais ça veut dire qu'il faut que le rack soit branché pour avoir du son... Si on veut juste jouer sur un VST par exemple, il faut allumer le rack même s'il ne sert pas. Parfois je trouve cela très embêtant (d'où un système de commutateur audio que j'ai ajouté pour attaquer l'ES9 ou bien une Focusrite branchée sur un autre PC et ses enceintes, qui eux sont toujours allumés, je suis informaticien je l'ai déjà dit.. donc à côté du matos musique j'ai forcément une ou deux machines branchées en permanence, allumer le rack juste pour jouer 5 minutes sur une émulation de piano c'est très vite trop lourd au quotidien, méfiez-vous !).
CONCLUSION : Super machine, ouvre des possibilités énormes (notamment en couplant un VCV Rack virtuel avec les vrais éléments du rack on peut faire des choses incroyables), reste que rendre la carte son dépendante de l'eurorack ça peut être une gêne comme je l'ai expliqué (la même chose dans un boitier externe serait finalement parfait).
