Gewa Idea 1.8 Violin Case Black

Case bought 2011 and was satisfactory until last year when the locks rusted and the metal attachments holding the straps rusted.
Also it is NOT waterproof which I experienced recently having walked a distance in the rain. Upon opening the case the interior was wet.

Very dissatisfied as I am not in a position to pay out this money again on a replacement case. I am a professional musician and would not recommend this case to anyone who has a violin of value.

It's a solid and high quality case which deserves it popularity. It is somewhat costly, but the ergonomics are good and it has a practical layout. Be aware of scratch marks, they will eventually come.

The design is very well thought out. I really like the fact that you can fit in a large shoulder rest which would not fit in the compartment you find in most violin cases. Being carbon fibre it is very strong and light, and the shoulder straps are comfortable.

My only concerns initially were how secure the velcro straps holding the shoulder rest might be, also that there seemed to be less padding around the violin than more conventional cases. However, I have had no problems with these issues, so I give it 5 stars without hesitation.
