Disappointing quality for a Custom Shop guitar
I bought a Gibson Custom Shop guitar expecting exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. At this price point, I expected an instrument that would feel and look truly special. What I received was very disappointing.
The guitar arrived with the pickguard visibly scratched and scuffed along every edge. The paintwork and overall finish also looked sloppy and far below what I would expect from a Custom Shop instrument.
For a guitar in this price range, these kinds of quality-control issues are simply unacceptable. When you pay this much for a Custom Shop model, you should not have to inspect the guitar and immediately notice cosmetic flaws and careless finishing.
If this is the level of craftsmanship that represents Gibson Custom Shop today, I would honestly rather buy a guitar costing a fraction of the price. I own and have played much cheaper instruments with noticeably better attention to detail and finishing.
It is a real shame, because I specifically wanted to buy something from the very top end of the market – a guitar that would feel special and that I could keep for many years. Instead, the first impression was frustration and disappointment.
A beautiful model in theory, but based on the example I received, the quality simply does not justify the price.
