I am an aficionado and a big fan of Kluson and vintage style tuners. I put nothing else on my guitar. All the high end professional and expensive closed tuners i care little about. Kluson, Gibson and Fender got it all right on 1st try. The split shaft invention is simple ans genius..
Enough talk. I been cataloging and writing about all the models and makers out there. and when i came across the HB, i decided to give them a try.
I was surprised by them. The quality is very high on these. The split shaft post had LESS wiggle than Kluson and SD91 Gotoh.
The only issue was maybe the gear, all 6 had a slight indentation when you turned the tuner. But barely noticeable when its strung up under tension.
I swear by Gotoh, but Harley Benton really did a good job of these.
And the price is laughable for this kind of quality.
The tuners were bought to replace stock HB tuners on a T-style guitar, which were very imprecise and sometimes hard to turn. These made a great improvement to a feel of an instrument. They rotate smoothly and seem to have good price to quality ratio. Highly recommended!
Bought it to put on my old Strat ... I can't recommend enough.
I have a Japanese mustang with the same type (Kluson) and there is no difference, but compare to Fender official brand, It's less than half of the price.
It's a brainless decision.
I tested those tuners and I am very happy with them.
I compared them with the Kluson tuners of the same style and couldnt see a difference.
I had to drill the holes in my guitar bigger but now it works just fine.
I bought these tuning machines because I like the classic vintage split post design. They appear well constructed. The feel is solid with no play and they seem to be doing a great job of staying in tune. Look great on the headstock too. One word of caution, I needed to get 6mm to 10mm conversion bushings to make these work. My fault for not considering the difference in sizing between vintage and modern tuners.
Purchased these to put on to my recently purchased Harley Benton ST-Acoustic Black guitar. They just needed additional 10mm bushes, to give a perfect and easy fit.
Well worth it.
They look nice, and the vintage-style design is something i personally prefer over normal tuners or even lock-in tuners. Be careful to line them up well when installing them though
