Very impressive bass
I bought this to help with recording some low tuned tracks. I was after the modern metal (Dingwall-esque) tones and I am very pleased with the results.
First impressions were good, out of the box the setup was close to perfect. The D string wasn't fully tightened on the headstock so the string kept slipping when trying to get it up to pitch, but that was a two second fix. I detuned all the strings one tone down from standard and I had to raise the action a little bit. But all of the setup took a total of 5-10 minutes and it plays perfectly.
Electronics are decent, the active EQ does it's job well, but I run this bass passive DI into an interface and EQ the signal on the way in instead.
I'm not a headless fan, but the balance on this is incredible and very comfortable to play. I also enjoy the aesthetic, combining the vintage off-white and red pickguard with the modern angles of a contemporary instrument.
Overall, I think this instrument is great and I can't fault it. Note: I haven't gigged with this bass so I don't comment on how it holds up outside of the studio
