Journey Instruments OF882C Acacia Acoustic

First of all, the guitar is looks stunning and the sound is deep and beautiful. I like the tone and the guitar is very loud when you need it. The tone is not really balanced, maybe due to the detachable neck. Some notes are much deeper than others.
The guitar itself is wider in z axis than any guitars I saw, but it’s comfortable while playing and gives a double bass like sound when tuned down in CGCFGC. No other guitar sounded that good being tuned so low in my practice.

The frets need a bit of work. The guitar comes with an additional saddle meant to be 1mm lower than the installed one. In my case they are the same, and a saddle 1-2 mm higher would be nice to have, as the strings are too low. I changed the saddle, and pretty happy now.
All in all, it’s an unusual instrument and I love it, the ability to take it anywhere in a backpack can not be overpriced. The backpack is well designed and padded.

You may face some difficulties in the beginning with saddle and frets, will need to set the truss rod, but if you don’t retune the guitar completely frequently like I do, you’ll need to set it only once in the beginning. I’m having it about two months now.

Advice to go for it, the majorities are much more noticeable than the minorities. =)

I bought this mainly to take with me as a travel guitar on my Harley Davidson. It has exceeded all expectations for me! It holds tune very well and has a nice rich sound. The pickup is excellent although i have paired it with an acoustic pre amp pedal (palmer pocket amp acoustic) to give me a little EQ control. It has now become part of my small mobile set up and had its first outing last weekend for two acoustic gigs where it performed flawlessly. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who is sitting on the fence and unsure whether to buy one or not. You will not be disappointed! Its also worth noting that this guitar has quite a deep D shaped neck which I personally really like as it matches my two main guitars which are both built my Morison. There were a couple of tiny finish issues with it but nothing that was worth complaining about! All in all, very happy with the purchase and would say if you are thinking about one, go for it !

Sehr praktikable Reise-, und Klappgitarre, die bislang als Handgepäck von jeder Airline , bislang 4, akzeptiert wurde. Genau hier lag der Grund der Anschaffung. Darüber sollte gewährleistet sein:
- guter, nicht unbedingt exzellenter Klang
- Lautstärke einer normalen Akustik-,Westerngitarre
- Griffbrett und Hals einer normalen Akustik- und Westerngitarre
Sämtliche Kriterien sind par excellence erfüllt. Lediglich klanglich gibt es Abstriche. Der Sound insgesamt schwimmt etwas. Die Analytik lässt zu wünschen übrig. Vergleich mit einer Breedlove Oregon concert: Deutlicher Unterschied in Sachen Analytik und Präzision. Verglichen mit einer Yamaha 310 setzt die Journey Instr. Doch wieder einen drauf.. Ich habe sehr schnell Elexir-Saiten aufgezogen, was die Bespielbarkeit verbesserte, aber die Klangeigenschaften zwar veränderte, aber nicht verbesserte. Die Bespielbarkeit Im Vergleich zu einer Klappgitarre Brunner, Model 1 lässt die Präzision der Journey Instr. zu wünschen übrig. Dafür ist sie lauter und fühlt sich an wie eine echte Gitarre. Ferner ist die Verbindungsmechanik der Journey deutlich solider und leichter zu bedienen. Die Stimmstabilität nach dem Zusammenbau ist bei beiden Instrumenten gut. Die Brunner hält die Stimmung allerdings während des spielens nicht gut.
Die Bespielbarkeit ist mit der 2. und niedrigeren Garnitur eines Steges, liegt der Liegerung bei deutl. einfacher. Auch der 2. Stegsatz darf gerne noch etwas runter gefeilt werden.
Zu guter letzt: Die Tasche von Journey Instruments ist ein riesiges Highlight. Hier hat sich jemand absolut gute Gedanken gemacht.
Insgesamt eine tolle, erwachsene Reisegitarre, die gerne etwas präziser klingen dürfte.

No soy guitarrista profesional, pero he probado muchas guitarras y esta esta en mi lista top. Estoy muy contento con el acabado y con la acción que es baja y eso la hace facil de tocar. Ademas el sustain es prolongado. Se monta muy facilmente. Aunque yo prefiero guardarla en casa montada. Tiene 13 cm de profundidad eso hace que resulte complicado encontrar una funda para guardarla montada. Pero para eso trae la mochila. Muy contento con la compra. Ademas es enchufable y el pickup es capacitivo. Eso hace que no sea necesario ponerle pilas.
