Joyo R-22 Narcissus Chorus

This is a really handy chorus pedal that won't break the bank! I wanted a simple chorus pedal with a few basic options to dial in the tone that I wanted and the JOYO Narcissus does exactly that! Unlike the EHX Small clone pedal, the JOYO has more options to create the right effect that you are looking to dial in with fun features like the 'Rate' and 'Width' pots. The option between 'modern' and 'vintage' is a nice touch too and both offer different variations of what the chorus effect sound sound like. My personal preference is the 'vintage' setting as it sounds more like the rich classic chorus effect that I am looking for. Just for fun, if you put everything to 100% and click on the 'modern' tone it sounds super wacky and I don't know in what context this could be used other than it sounding super funny as you go in for a solo during your next band rehearsal!

As ideas if you are looking to pair this pedal with something else to build up your pedal board I have the JOYO Narcissus paired with my pro co rat distortion that really adds some width and shimmer to my distortion tone when I have them on together. For my clean sound I have this paired with the JOYO Atmosphere reverb pedal and the Boss Digital Delay 7 that creates a really rich, clean and atmospheric tone.

Der Chorus-Effekt gefällt mir prinzipiell. Jedoch mag ich nicht, wenn der Ton dadurch herumeiert, wie das mit vielen Versionen besonders der älteren Bauart der Fall ist. Also suchte ich ein Pedal, dass dem Ton eine neue Dimension verleiht, so eine Art angedeutete Mehrstimmigkeit, wie der Effektname es ja meiner Meinung nach verspricht: als ob die eine Stimme plötzlich zum Chor wird ohne zu einer Leier zu mutieren.
Der Narcissus macht so etwas in einer nicht zu auffälligen Weise recht gut. Außerdem kann man das Geleier auch haben, wenn man den Schalter auf Vintage legt. Aber auch hier finde ich das Geleier erträglicher als bei manch anderen Pedalen.
Ich war auch etwas vorsichtig, was digitale Pedale betrifft. Irgendwelche Probleme konnte ich mit dem Narcissus nach einem einzigen Spielvorgang nicht feststellen.
Das Pedal kommt übrigens ohne Netzteil und verlangt 160 mA. Dass man die Lightshow mit einem Schalter unterhalb des Pedals minimieren kann, ist vielleicht zum Strom sparen bei überlasteten Mehrfach-Netzteilen sinnvoll. Ich brauche das nicht.
