Mollenhauer Waldorf Edition Soprano DL

I spent 2 weeks trying to understand the difference between the Waldorf and the Adri's Dream recorders: I asked Mollenhauer themselves, Thomann and even visited a Mollenhauer dealer to see and hear them both. Nobody could really tell me what the difference is - if any.
I eventually purchased them both ?one for me and one as a present? and had a chance to check them out both: the dimension of the bore, the workings of the holes, the position and size of the labium - to me they all seem identical, and so does the sound. When both are warm and played in, it's impossible to tell which one is being played. I came to the conclusion that Mollenhauer have simply taken the key features of the Adri's Dream (which was developed in collaboration with Adriana Breukink and might require royalties to her) and replicated them on the Waldorf edition. In other words, a different shell, but same structure and same outcome.

About the recorder, it plays beautifully with a warm and full tone, the notes are straightforward to achieve and it just looks awesome in its, as Mollenhauer put it, "organic" shape.

Wie überall beworben hat die Waldorf-Flöte wirklich einen schönen, warmen, vollen Klang. Sie mischt sich gut mit anderen Flöten. Gerade in den Tiefen wird sie nicht unangenehm leise und diese sind auch von der Ansprache her nicht zickig. Ganz oben (hohes g und drüber) sieht es da schon anders aus. Da verzeiht sie wenig. Aber dafür würde ich jetzt vllt. nur einen halben Stern Abzug geben, denn da sind andere Flöten der Preisklasse auch nicht anders. Trotz Einspielens geht die Flöte für meinen Geschmack allerdings recht schnell zu. Liegt vllt. am sehr schmalen gebogenen Windkanal? Ich empfinde die großen Löcher als sehr komfortabel, schmale Kinderfinger (z.b. Meine 7-jährige Tochter) haben es da sicher etwas schwerer. Insgesamt ein schönes Instrument, mit schöner Haptik, tollem Klang zu einem fairen Preis.
Nachtrag nach einigen Wochen des Spielens: Da die Flöte auch nach mehreren Wochen Spielen immer noch sehr schnell heiser wurde (nehme an, das liegt auch an dem sehr engen gebogenen Windkanal) habe ich wider meiner eigentlichen Überzeugung etwas Antikondens eingeträufelt. Jetzt scheint es sehr viel besser zu sein. Die Flöte spielt lange und ohne Veränderung der Töne durch Feuchtigkeit. In den Höhen habe ich mich mittlerweile immerhin bis zum hohen h gearbeitet, aber das geht selten auf Anhieb. Da merkt man das Renaissance Erbe der Flöte deutlich. Werde mir wohl doch noch ein klassische Barockflöte zulegen. Ansonsten mag die die Flöte immer noch gerne und gerade für Folk, Kinderlieder und irische Stücke ist sie toll.

Par où commencer?! je suis débutant donc cette critique est assez qualitative.

L'aspect extérieur : elle est mate au toucher, en deux pièces, avec des trous de tailles différentes que l'on sent très bien sous les doigts (pratique pour un débutant comme moi). La finition est très bien avec une ligne épurée et sa belle couleur.
Elle est assez légère, avec un son vraiment adoucis presque "chauffé" par le bois comparé aux modèles en résine ou plastique ; on sent bien le bois fibrer sous les notes. Son embouchure large se positionne aussi très bien.

Conclusion je suis très satisfait de cet instrument!

Ho comprato questo flauto affascinato dal suo aspetto morbido e "semplice", quasi minimale. Devo dire che la scelta è stata davvero ottima!
Ho superato la fase di rodaggio e devo dire che si lascia suonare davvero bene, intasandosi poco solo dopo molto uso. Una soffiata e via, si è pronti a ripartire!
Il suono è chiaro e caldo (a mio avviso) a qualsiasi altezza e piuttosto deciso (rispetto ad altri flauti con cameratura più stretta).
Le note escono senza alcuno sforzo e la diteggiatura risulta agevolata dalla dimensione dei fori, tale da permettere di individuarli subito al tatto.
Il materiale ha una finitura perfetta: il legno di pero, col suo colore caldo, mi ha soddisfatto al 100% fin da subito... dopo una leggera oliatura esterna ancora di più!
Ottimo acquisto, veramente quello che volevo!
