Everything you need
Bass player for 30ys could never justify 2k for rack 1176 except in studio. Now its on my pedal boards, sound, perfect as studio rack one was, construction, should be in fallout series as it will survive the blast plus knobs old school smooth. Size matter, pedal size studio rack sound, unbelievable. conclusion, save up and buy, one of the few pedals that in 30yrs you will still have on your board, thats a pound a yr for 30yrs value for money. You will miss it if its not there and enjoy its subtle perfection when it is.

Not for everybody after all...
After all the praise the Calli gets as the ultimate bass compressor, I decided it will be part of my pedalboard for life, so the premium price is justified. I had never read not even a single bad review about it, so what could go wrong, right?
Well, it turns out it's unusable for my needs. I use the compressor as first in line, I play with a pick and I have overdrives further down the line. The Calli adds top-end frequencies which were impossible for me to dial-out whatever I tried and which sounded pretty terrible going through my overdrives.
Maybe it brings to life muddy basses or finger-playing, but for pick-playing and bright basses - it's just too much of "edge".
No complaints in terms of build and quality other than that they could've used a softer on/off switch.
Eventually, I parted ways with the pedal in less than 6 months of use and ended up with another analog compressor that satisfies my needs and which is cheaper even.

Excellent bass compressor
I have been using the EBS multi compressor, which already very good, but this one far much better.
Full tone even at high compression

Amazing
One of the best compressors for bass, with a lot of versatility and tone shaping.
If it's your first compressor, takes a bit of time to dial your sound for each type of situation.
Very worth the price.

First of all built like a tank,
I don't know much about how a compressor works, but this thing is amazing. It has softened my sound, if that makes any sense, and it paints the sound in the best possible way.

Yes this is it!
Compressors are some of the most boring effects you can use but nonetheless a most useful tool.
This one can be subtle and powerful at the same time. The dinamic range is impressive and the fact that you can volume match with ease is just great.
In a nutshell, it makes you love your instrument even more.

One of the industry standards for the bass.
I had different compressors before: SD Studio Bass and Empress Bass Compressor. And I loved them as well. But Origin takes the first place for me. There are many comparisons between it and Empress. And I would definitely say that Emress is much more transparent, which I actually don't like. Cause when I'm playing with Origin, I can feel and tell what the compressor does, and with the right amount of Blend and HPF, make it quite transparent as well. Also, the blended Attack/Release knob is not a problem for me; it does its job very well, so you can find the right position for different applications.
