PRS SE NF 53 White Doghair

This guitar sounds great. It is similar to a Tele, but it is not a Tele. If you want the Telecaster sound, buy a Telecaster. This PRS sounds punchy and modern, but it is also very dynamic. There is no pickup noise. The pickups are excellent. The neck is chunky, but not like the very old Telecasters. I like it. The neck feels like there is no finish on it at all—it is fast, smooth, and amazing to the touch. The guitar comes almost perfectly set up for my taste. The action is low, but not like "shredder low" - and there is no fret buzz. Very good.

There were some problems with my guitar. First, the volume pot was bent a little, but it is fine for me. Besides that, both pots are excellent and feel very good. Second, I am not a big fan of the tuners. They feel a bit cheap compared to my American Vintage II Strat, Baum Wingman, or Les Paul Studio, but they hold the guitar in tune perfectly. I just don't like the "plasticky" feel. However, the guitar holds its tune very well. Another minor issue was that some fret ends were sharp when gliding my hand over the neck. This is mostly because a mahogany neck can shrink over time, causing the frets to protrude. It is not drastic, just a little bit. Also, depending on your luck when ordering online, you could get a light one or a heavy one regarding the weight. I use it in a studio, so I don't care, but if you are gigging a lot, and you really want this guitar and you are lucky enough to live in Germany near Thomann, just go to the shop and pick the exact one you like.

Overall, this guitar is much better for the price than many other brands. If you are going to buy this guitar, you should also buy a set of good strings and take it to a luthier. Once they tweak it and polish the frets, you will have an amazing instrument that you won't want to stop playing. I didn't do this YET - but I play it all the time. Love it! It is really good instrument. Oh, yeah - it also comes in a really good gig bag!

Eine solide T-Style Gitarre.
Die Verarbeitung ist einwandfrei. Einen Punkt Abzug gab es nur weil die Maserung nicht so eindrucksvoll wie auf den Bildern ist. Ansonsten ist die Gitarre super verarbeitet und eingestellt bei mir angekommen, typisch PRS halt.

Klanglich bin ich sehr überrascht wie die zwei Humbucker doch sehr überzeugend den Tele-Twang erzeugen können. Dieser ist natürlich wärmer und nicht ganz so drahtig wie bei einem echten Singlecoil. Wer aber eine T-Style Gitarre mit etwas mehr Feuer sucht, der sollte hier fündig werden. 🔥

Eine sich super wertig anfühlende Gitarre mit einem wahnsinnigen Sound. Vorallem das Herausdrehen des Volume-Potis für cleanere Sounds funktioniert wunderbar. 🎸🤘🏻

Aber dass man keine Locking Tuner, wie Gotoh oder ähnliche bekommt, ist irgendwie nicht nachvollziehbar. Es wurden mir von einem Thomann Mitarbeiter die originalen PRS empfohlen, aber 169 Euro ist ein Scherz. Diese Mechaniken habe ich selbst auch gefunden, da brauche ich keinen Mitarbeiter. Aber nach Alternativen hat der gute Mann wohl nicht gesucht, bzw. jemanden aus der Werkstatt befragt. Das sogenannte Fachpersonal geht auch hier den leichtesten Weg. Warum soll man sich auch bemühen. Ist ja Zeitverschwendung. Als kundenorientierte Beratung kann ich das jedenfalls nicht bezeichnen. Da kann man als Kunde nur selbst recherchieren und auf gut Glück bestellen.

NACHTRAG: Ich habe eine Mechanik von der PRS runtergenommen und alles vermessen. Die Gotoh SD90-SL MG Locking 3L/3R N schienen laut Daten zu passen. Auf gut Glück bestellt und sie passen wirklich. Dieses Fachwissen hätte ich mir von einem sogenannten "Fachpersonal" eigentlich erwartet. Aber in der Servicewüste Deutschland sieht es düster aus, da scheint auch Thomann keine Ausnahme zu sein.
