I purchased this as I wanted to monitor the level on a SPDIF signal in a digital audio system. older CD's can be a little lower in level and some newer CD's seem overdriven. and as I used Digital EQ, can watch levels on this also. there are lots of options on referance levels (not so much use in digital signals) but has analog inputs as well, where they will be useful. The options for display types are very good and I'm very happy with the response to signal (low latency) and if you like that retro look, you can have VU or PPM meters, ( I do wish you could have them side by side when used on side mode, not one on top of the other) and the PPM with loudness monitoring is only availible as single two channel unit) I would have liked PPM with peak hold on needles on two meters ) BUT I'm using it with BAR Graph meters and these are excellent. There is no option to store/recall configurations and as said above has many options, this would be nice. There is another manufacture that makes a unit like this ,but I like the touch screen, (its very clear/focused) Made of metal and is stable on the shelf, as long as cables aren't to stiff/large. The analog is input only but digital is in/out, that was very important to me as the signal going onto Monitor needs to go onto the Dac/Speakers, and that's what I'm really doing. listening to music .
