Snare sound is a bit poor
I was a bit disappointed with this purchase. As is with a lot of Cajons the snare sound is a bit poor. I chose this one based on reviews because the snare was supposed to be good but I just found their wasn't enough response and I get more wood sound than snare. The snare on this is made from a snare drum snare cut in half and mounted against the inside front of the box. There's no real adjustment to change the sound. The snare coverage could probably do with being bigger to enhance the sound and this is something you might be able to do yourself.
Often it takes a while to soften the Cajon up so that the snare becomes more responsive, but I haven't really found it with this one.
Bass sounds great from this instrument though and the box is definitely a solid build, I also bought a protection racket case to go with it which is very useful with the rucksack straps.

Great Fun, like a real drum kit!
I had this "Cahoon" as a surprise Christmas present and I love it! Such a great sound and variety of tones from this cajon. Very well made from the soft no scratch feet to the non-slip seat on top, well thought out design and German Engineering at its best. Seems to be improving as it plays in (as they said it would). I would be very happy to recommend this to a friend for both the sound and the construction quality. I hope my neighbours agree!

Super Sound
This is a super sounding instrument - deep, deep bass drum and crisp snare-type sound.
Very easy to learn, excellent quality sound and quite loud. Also doubles as a seat when not being played :)

Very good product
This has excellent sound quality and is solidly made. We have used it for a couple of years with no problems. Played well, it produces an amazingly varied and full sound.

Great quality for the price
Well built, durable and good looking cajon. Materials are of good quality, nice to handle and playing and sitting surfaces feel good. A great crisp snare sound that can be adjusted a bit. However, the bass sound is somewhat thin and weak.
