SSL BUS+

TL;DR

SSL Bus+ is an absolutely amazing bus compressor and it fits both mixing and mastering perfectly.


I don't have any other hardware to compare Bus+ to, however I was looking for a very versatile mix bus comp and I've found it. The sound is so much superior to any plugin I've owned/tried and I have a bunch of leading SSL emulations, including native one.

What shocked me the most is that you can push the unit very hard and it still sounds great, not distorted and not tastelessly squashed. Also, each setting is really usable, whereas in plugin format I've always felt that only "extreme" (both slow and fast) attack and release settings worked.

It can be both clean and quite heavily saturated, but I truly believe that there are other SSL style comps that might have more mojo than this one, yet if we take into consideration how many options we are actually getting, there's probably no other that can rival this unit.

Amazing piece, love it. Took me around 15 minutes to make sure that I won't be sending it back.
