I bought this to use for a full 5pc drumset (20,10,12,14,14, the bass drum being separated from the toms), because I didn't want to go for the bigger rugs and the dimensions on this were convenient for me.
After just 1 gig the spikes from the bass drum legs almost created two 10cm tears as the bass drum was slowly sliding away, that ended up in two very noticeable holes where the spikes finally went through the whole rug.
Yes, I have the spikes fully exposed on the bass drum, otherwise it just slides away. Yes, the gig was kinda long, around 3,5 hours, and yes, the playing was hard (a mini festival of a few bands, sharing the same drum kit). That being said, it's supposed to be a specialized product for this exact use and if it's not suited for a drum kit it should be clearly stated in the description since it is under the drum rug category after all. Even under heavy use, it should last more than 1 gig so I don't think there's any excuse. Unless I got a faulty rug, I can't see this being sturdy enough to withstand regular use with a drum kit. If it's used for some percussion or light playing it will probably be good enough, since it doesn't feel like it's cheap, but I wouldn't recommend it for a bass drum. I don't think it's really a matter of quality, just not the right tool for this use (hence the 4 stars).
After contracting Thomann, I'm sending it back and I'm in wait to see if I will get my money back (hopefully I will have an update on that soon).
So... TL;DR:
If you plan on using this for a bass drum/full drum kit, look into something sturdier, unless you play really light.
