Zildjian 09" Oriental Trash Splash

I've seen countless drummers play this splash cymbal in videos and on records for years! As with any music instrument, the sound differs depending on room etc. so I was hesitant to purchase one as it would be a special order because of where I live... I finally gave in... And I am NOT disappointed! It cuts through the mix even better than expected for it's size, and playing it in conjunction with a Zildjian Oriental Trash China, the sounds effects are unified on the kit.
It's made me want the 11" now too!

I just love the sound. It has a warm and delightful presence. It is one of the sounds that you have to use rarely, but when you do it adds a lot of character.

Short, sharp with a hint of china-type (maybe a battered tea tray?) in there too which gives a trashy post-shimmer to it. Sits in well with other types of splash cymbal. Very happy I took the risk!
