Great sounding & cuts through
I own a number of Zultan splashes in different sizes (8-10-12) and from different ranges (Aja, Aja Blaze, Q, Raw, Dune). I have been happy with all of them in, admittedly, several different music settings. Of course, splashes by other cymbal brands have gone through my setups over the years as well - Istanbul, Paiste, Meinl...
The Aja Blaze does not hold up in sound sophistication to the best of them, or to the higher range Zultans for that matter, but it's far from bad sounding. Their sound on it's own may be a bit harsher than I would prefer, but still relatively pleasant and splashy. However, it is loud enough and the specific color really punches through in the mix, while not being too piercing for the ears. I play in a hard rock/prog metal setting and it suits it really well. In a quieter setting it responds well to more subtle hits and does not loose it's character, as some of the splashes I've tried over the years (where you need to really hit hard to get a good sound). It can also withstand quite a lot of pounding, as I'm not a gentle player most of the time. I've gone through quite a few of regular Aja 8" splashes (which also sound great, but are more fragile), so I'm happy with how this one is holding up. I also quite like the brushed look.
Overall really happy with this purchase, especially given the incredible price. I'm considering going for the other sizes as well.
