My default snare head to go. Response + durability + AWESOME coating.

Update: after 1 year of frequent use (rehersals, gigs, rented out several times) a spot of worn coating about 1-1.5cm appeared in the center of the head. I'm a kind of heavy hitter.

I think I can play the same head for another six months without any sound issues.

Das Snarefell der Wahl

Ich spiele dieses Fell auf allen drei meiner Snares (13x6.5 Birch, 14x6.5 Maple, 14x6.5 Stahl). Für mich ist es ein Fell, dass mit sehr überzeugenden Eigenschaften daher kommt: zunächst einmal macht es einen tollen, knackigen Sound. Der DOT sorgt dafür, dass der Attack etwas härter ist und dämpft gleichzeitig ein paar der gut vorhandenen Obertöne weg - speziell, wenn man in der eh schon trockeneren Mitte anschlägt. Wer auf offenen Sound steht, kann mit diesem Fell ohne jede weitere Dämpfung glücklich werden. Ich lege meist ein Moongel auf Spannreifen und Fell, so dass er nur ein wenig am Fell anliegt. Damit ist es für mich perfekt.
Neben dem klanglichen Aspekt ist das Fell sehr haltbar - das gilt sowohl für die Folie(n) als auch vor allem für das Coating. Im besonders beanspruchten Mittelbereich verstärkt der von unten aufgeklebte Dot das Fell, so dass es tendenziell etwas länger hält als ein einlagiges Fell sonst. Das Coating von Aquarian ist unverwüstlich - ich habe es noch bei keinem coated Aquarian-Fell geschafft, eine Stelle des Fells blank zu spielen.
Zu guter letzt spricht dann noch der günstige Preis für dieses Fell. Aus meiner Sicht daher eine ganz klare Empfehlung dafür!
