Same as the R70xA, but a low-ohm version with velour pads. It's a shame that Audio-Technica made two models similar to the DT 990 Pro (32 Ohm and 250 Ohm) with such a big price difference—despite using the same driver, one costs twice as much! I recommend it; it's very lightweight, especially if you remove the top padding, which presses too hard on the head. This way, you get a lighter version of the R70xa

Lightweight & comfortable

I bought a pair of ATH-M40x a long time ago and since stopped using headphones until recently. After buying a pair of Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2, which are top quality, I started looking for a pair of open-back wired headphones and came across the ATH-R50x.
These are incredibly good value for what you get; well made, comfortable, lightweight and very good regarding sound quality. There's something I prefer about just plugging in a pair of headphones and not having to worry about the battery level!
A pair of Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X's is now on my wish-list but I'll enjoy these in the meantime. Recommended.

Outstanding Clarity for Mixing and Production

The ATH-R50x impressed me from the first listening session. The open-back design provides a spacious and natural soundstage that makes critical listening much easier. The frequency response feels balanced and honest, allowing me to make confident mixing decisions.
They're extremely comfortable during long studio sessions, and the lightweight design helps reduce fatigue. Compared to many headphones in this price range, the detail retrieval and stereo imaging are exceptional.
If you're looking for reliable headphones for music production, editing, and mixing, the ATH-R50x offers fantastic value and professional performance.

Best studio headphones ive owned

I’ve tried around 100 headphones for mixing audio, including the HD600 and M50x. The R50x are the most accurate to my ears, and translate the best. Like the hd600 but less veiled, more low end, and easier to drive!
