Boss RT-2 Rotary Ensemble

You can hear that it has a worked on, well defined sound. Especially when comparing to rotary in cheaper pedals. Low end is present but not booming as in cheaper pedals. The effect is present and not too much behind the dry sound. High tones are very organ like. I can't compare anymore, but It seemed that the BOSS MD 200 rotary was even more defined and 3 dimensional. But maybe I am wrong, it probably is the same algorythm.
The RT-2 is like the EHX Good vibes in a Leslie territory that is less throbbing and more organ like. At the other hand there is Strymon. For me the Rotary in the Mobius is quite different, more 3 dimensional and psychedelic. I talk about the mono mode. I like the Strymon rotary the best. It is personal taste, because this RT-2 is definitely a high end rotary pedal with good sounds, stereo and expression input. And this for a price much below a Strymon pedal ! But I would save money and go for a Strymon Rotary.

I have had a H&K Rotosphere for years and it's really the effect to beat for Leslie and Rotary tones. I've been looking for something compact but never made the jump. This Boss pedal is the familiar footprint we've known forever, with great sound and features. Really great. The only improvement would be a brake function but knowing this pedal it's buried in there somewhere. Highly recommended

Cette pédale offre un rendu sonore excellent. Il s'agit de ma première simulation d'effet rotary, et elle me convainc au point que ce sera probablement la dernière que j'achèterai.

En position 1, on obtient une véritable simulation avec un filtre speaker style IR. Le rendu est parfaitement réaliste et convaincant avec un orgue / clavier. Les positions 2 et 3 s'accordent mieux avec la guitare, proposant un son légèrement moins filtré / sombre que la première position.

Je recommande vivement de consulter le manuel au moins une fois pour comprendre le fonctionnement du switch "drive knob" situé à l'arrière ainsi que les autres réglages. Ce n'est pas des plus intuitif ! Il y a également possibilité d'ajuster la transition entre les vitesses rapide et lente. Mon réglage préféré consiste à configurer la pédale pour qu'un appui prolongé accélère la rotation, tandis que le relâchement la ralentit.

J'ai quelques interrogations concernant le niveau de sortie, qui me semble plutôt faible, mais il est possible que j'aie mal configuré certains paramètres. Je mettrai à jour mon avis après avoir effectué une remise à zéro complète de la pédale et testé différents câblages.

Das RT2 ist der Nachfolger des RT20 im kompakten BOSS Standard Format. Ich habe ihn an der Gitarre im Einsatz. Der Effekt greift sehr stark in den Sound ein, subtil beimischen wie einen Chorus kann man ihn nicht, denn immerhin wird ein komplexes Lautsprechersystem nachgebildet. Der Grundsound wird also nicht nur bewegt, sondern auch stark gefiltert. Um da etwas flexibler zu sein hat BOSS verschiedene Modi spendiert, II und III weichen etwas von der genauen Leslie Simulation ab und bieten u.a mehr Höhen. Die wichtigsten Parameter lassen sich schnell einstellen dank der "gestapelten" Regler. Der Expressioneingang regelt voreingestellt den Speed, aber kann auch mit anderen Funktionen belegt werden. Nette Zugabe ist die Verzerrung an Board, die klingt sehr eigen und nutzbar. Der slow Regler kann die Rotation auch auf Stillstand stellen. Beim einschalten des Effektes wird normalerweise gleich in die Geschwindigkeit geschaltet in der man es verlassen hat, aber man kann umgekehrt auch beim ausgeschalteten Effekt das Tempo bremsen oder beschleunigen. Dies geschieht generell durch gedrückt halten des Schalters, egal ob on oder off. Einen Latchmode für on/off gibt es daher mWn leider nicht. Wer sich einen Rotary Effekt holt erweitert seine Pedale um ein Extrem für das man seine Spielweise anpassen sollte, nicht alles klingt damit gut, manches aber großartig. Auch in mono macht das RT2 eine gute Figur. Ein tolles, selbstbewusstes aber auch vergleichsweise teures Pedal mit einem schmucken Hingucker, der wie ein Edelstein in die Front eingesetzt ist ;) Macht mir richtig Spaß mit Octaverpedalen wie dem OC2 oder schönen komplexen Harmonien und langen Noten. Viel Spaß mit einem Klassikersound der Rockgeschichte :)
