Money for nothing

I bought these out of pure curiosity and was harshly punished for it. The strings have a black coating that feels uncomfortably sticky to the touch, but that isn't even the worst part. The sound is incredibly dull, making them sound as if they are already worn out right out of the box. After just two hours of light playing, the coating started to flake off, leaving behind microplastic residue and making the strings look extremely messy. I have used a lot of different strings, including some very cheap ones, but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Absolutely not worth the money.

Bought 2 of these Black Beauties to black out 2 of my guitars. Although expensive I thought I'd give them a try. They look great after changing the strings and sound good as well. Had read other reviews that pinch harmonics may be an issue but found them to be fine. Only problem was after the first rehearsal that the black coating came off a lot and left dust between the neck and bridge pickups. I think that these may be better for maybe just photographs as the extra money paid and one use with the coating coming off doesnt seem worth it for me. My normal choice of strings are D'darrio NYXL's which are a few ££'s cheaper. I will revert back to these once the strings need changed. I suspect after more playing the coating will deteriorate more and the strings will start to look even worse.

Good for the aesthetic, "matte" 9-46 feel

Strings were easy to bend and put on using a hook technique. Cut your nails and wash your hands before playing, it's always good practice for all cases but a bit more important to take extra care with these as the black coating comes off relatively easily from scratches and fast, thick picks like JP Trinity or Ibanez Elastomer. Unplugged sound is a bit muted, especially on legato but slides and bends are as easy as on a normal 9-46 set despite the soft "painted" feel they have

Ich habe die Saiten gekauft, weil ich dachte, dass sie optisch gut zu meiner schwarz-weißen Flying-V passen würden und das tun sie auch. Allerdings kommen wir da auch gleich zu meinem größten und eigentlich einzigen Kritikpunkt: Die schwarze Farbe hält nicht lang! Mein Satz hat nach etwa 3-4 Tagen intensiven Spielens (nach ca. 10-12 Stunden, mit Plektrum) völlig seine schwarze Farbe im Anschlagsbereich verloren. Danach sahen sie nicht mehr gut aus, ganz im Gegenteil eher extrem alt und abgenutzt.

Bei diesem Preis also für mich nicht geeignet. Wer aber nur mit den Fingern spielt oder etwas besonderes für einen oder zwei Gigs sucht wird seine Freude an den Saiten haben, denn der Sound ist erwartungsgemäß hervorragend, auch ohne den schwarzen Look!
