I've had a 67 reissue made in Japan Stratocaster for around 30 years now and I've never been able to gel with a correct string gauge until I tried these.
The neck of the guitar is thin but in particular the nut width is small, so these lower gauge strings fit that space perfectly.
Tone wise they sound great, they don't sound weak or thin at all. I have Kinman Woodstock Plus pickups fitted in this Stratocaster and they sound very 'Jimi' especially when played into an early spec' Marshall.
Bisher habe ich d'Addario EXL120 0.42-0.09 gespielt. Seit einigen Monaten ist die Qualität nach meiner Meinung nicht mehr konstant. In einem 10-er Pack sind mindestens 2 unterschiedliche Sorten enthalten. Manche hart manche weich. Und ausserdem wollte ich eine dickere e-Saite (10-er).
Jetzt bin ich auf Fender umgestiegen, weil in einem Satz mit einer 10-er e-Saiten und einer E-Saite die nicht stärker als 0.42 ist. Da sind Fender u. noch ein anderer Hersteller, die Einzigen die diese Sortierung anbieten Da die Saiten härter als d'Addario sind, ist der Umstieg von 0.42 auf Fender 0.38 schnell kompensiert

Die Saiten klingen brilliant und haben eine angenehme Härte. Der Klang ist "dicker" als die d'Addario.
