Great at holding the reed on

I use these gigs on my alto and tenor saxes.... they do a great job at holding the reed on!

Does it change the sound? Probably not. Does it change the response? Possibly a little in the lower register. Does it stop the reed from coming away from the table as the reed swells with moisture (and thus prevents the possibility of chirps)? Definitely.

You may want to use a different mouthpiece cap though, as I've found the ones that come with these are a bit naff... they fall off all the time. I use Silverstein Omnicap II and these work very well!

Super fürs Otto-link-Metall-Mundstück

Die Francois Louis Ultimate ist sowieso schon meine Lieblingsblattschraube bei Hard-Rubber-Mundstücken, sowohl beim Alto wie beim Tenor. Jetzt hab ich sie erstmalig auf meinem Metal-Otto-Link-Alto (natürlich in der angemessenen Größe) probiert und bin begeistert: Viel besser als die Original-Link-Blattschraube, freierer und etwas hellerer Klang, leichtere Ansprache. Die Handhabung ist gut, obwohl sie ja nicht füreinander geschaffen sind (und nur wenig Blattschrauben überhaupt auf die Metal-Links passen). Das Problem, dass sie die Oberflächte zerkratzt lässt sich gut dadurch lösen, dass man die Blattschraube einfach dauerhaft auf dem Mundstück lässt. Das Blatt kann man einfach entnehmen, ohne die Blattschraube zu entfernen.

Fragil und widerspenstig

Das Konzept geht auf. Die Ansprache der Töne, vor allem D' und tiefer, wird durch die Verwendung deutlich agiler. Dynamische Varianz erhöht sich in allen Registern.

Größtes Manko aus meiner Sicht: Das fragile Kerlchen passt sich nur sehr widerspenstig der verjüngenden Form eines Mundstücks an. Die Versuche es am Mundstück in Form zu bringen führen leicht zu teifen Kratzern im Material. Belässt man die ungefähre Passform, führt das dazu das das Blatt nicht 100% sicher sitz. Beides doof. Und ärgerlich. Spiele es auf dem Sopran, da konnte ich mich gut durch beharrliches Anpassen arrangieren; spiele es nihct mehr auf dem Alt Sax, weil mir bei den Versuchen der Formgebung schlicht eine der Lötstellen aufgebrochen ist.

Pas au niveau pour le prix

Utilisé sur bec métal, la ligature provoque des rayures. Je vous conseille de limer les extrémités des tiges.
Par ailleurs, la ligature n'arrête pas de bouger sur mon bec parfaitement rond et lisse (bec brancher métal), elle glisse et ne tient pas en place.
Bref, au final, je ne l'utilise pas.
