Gibson 57 Classic Nickel 4C

Great sound - I like it very much. I checked most of the humbuckers in the neck. This pickup has tons of character and charisma. It is not the most universal pickup and will not work in every guitar. If your guitar is a bassy one, this won't be a good choice. It has a full bass and plays with a full sound. But this is THAT sound. It plays evenly forward, is both transparent and not muddy inside (Alnico 2) and has full dynamics, from pure tones to enhanced ones.

I ordered two of these pickups for my Epiphone Les Paul Custom in hopes of achieving a tone similar to that of Clapton, Zappa, and various blues artists. However, I noticed that the wiring for one of the pickups didn't seem to work; the copper wire appeared to be damaged when I checked it. I managed to solder the other pickup, and it turned out great! The sound is awesome, and the tone is lovely!

Aus meiner Epiphone ES339 den Steg-Humbucker herausgebaut, die elektrischen Werte verglichen, Unterschied: max. 10% (Induktivität, Kapazität, Widerstand ... Messbrücke bei 1KHz), einigermassen entäuscht. Musste das sein? Der Epiphone Humbucker war dann wohl auch OK !?

Beim ersten Anspielen jedoch traute ich meinen Ohren nicht. Absolut transparent bis ins feinste, klar, der Klick da, nicht wie der alte, die Bässe deutlich druckvoller, das braucht es so bei der ES339, breitbandiger, deutlich energischer, holt all das aus dem Stück Sperrholz raus, was man vorher nicht so ganz mitbekam. Intuitiv leiser gedreht, komisch, man spielt schneller, weil man nicht so gefühlt gegen eine Gummiwand spielt, weil man weniger für den Klick aufwenden muss, man hört den Fingerabdruck an den Saiten (010er). Brummen? weitgehend nichts (im Direktvergleich). Offensichtlich lohnt das Vergießen mit Wachs, bzw. Kombi. aus Magnetmaterial und Verarbeitung und das bei fast gleichen Messwerten...!
Es ist eine Frage der Zeit, wann die Halsposition ebenso einen Austausch erhält.
