Is based on the well-known JAZZ Local 627 reeds and shares their basic characteristics: their sound has excellent clarity and projection and is brighter than that of the Classic reeds. This makes them ideal for North American style jazz.
Although the sound is comparable to the Local 627, Malbec has a filed cut which gives them additional flexibility

You get what you pay for

Weird reeds... cut so sharply at their edges one of them actually cut the side of my lip while vibrating on a low Bb. Buzzy, faded sound, sounds more like a student or a practice reed, something only you would bear hearing. Definitely not for shows and performances, as it's the exact opposite of reliable. Out of a box of 5, only 1 reed was worth practicing on. Note: I did resurface the reeds to give them a second chance, but it just made horrible reeds turn to bad reeds. Still, not worth it. A reed box should have mostly "practice" reeds and 1 or 2 good performers. Stick to Rigotti , D'Addario and Vandoren, they're well known for a reason.
