Thomann Domra M1084

I bought this as an alternative to a mandolin. It's a lyrical instrument, better suited to melodies than accompaniment.
The finish of the instrument is nice and the patterned sound hole is pretty. The neck feels narrower (compared to a mando) and the action is a little higher. The headstock design is also nice.
The whole instrument is light and easy to handle. The half shell back is a lovely finish, though takes a little getting used to, so that is sits without sliding off your knee (assuming you are seated).
The tone is lovely with bright notes with a clear sound. And the strings are well spaced to avoid accidental touches. Mandolin players will find this an easy transition.
I recommend this domra to anyone with some lyrical stringed experience or to someone looking to get some.

Vielleicht zuerst ein paar Bemerkungen zu meinen Vorbewertern: Ein beweglicher Steg ist sowohl bei Archtopgitarren, Archhtopmandolinen als auch bei Banjos üblich. Will man nicht nach jedem Saitenwechsel die Stimmung neu justieren, empfiehlt sich, dies Saite für Saite zu tun.
Pyramid hat Saiten für 4-saitige Domra im Programm.(kleiner Tipp an Thomann).
Da die Mensur von Mandoline und Domra aber nahezu identisch sind, kann man dafür auch Mandolinensaiten verwenden.
Weil im Hals der Domra aber kein Stahlstab eingebaut ist, würde ich Saiten mit geringem Saitenzug bevorzugen.
Die Saiten von Pyramid sind Nickelsaiten, ich habe mich für Thomastiks entschieden. Damit klingt meine Domra noch eine Spur voller.
Die Intonationsprobleme sind wohl auf die minderwertigen Werkssaiten zurückzuführen, nach dem Saitenwechsel war davon nichts mehr zu spüren, die Domra intoniert nahezu perfekt.
