Ibanez RG652AHM-AWD

Already an RG prestige and S prestige owner,

Bought this one since i wanted to refresh my collection with different wood combinations.

The guitar sounds fantastic. Very good tone definition both in bright and warmer pickup.

The pickups themselves are air norton neck and tonezone bridge from Dimarzio. The Air norton is medium output although really good harmonic response. The Tonezone is a bit higher output and one of the brightest pups. Use it with some overdrive pedal infront of a crunch channel amp and it SCREAMS.

U can basically play from mellow jazz sounds to djent riffing!

Not to mention the ingenious split coil with the 5way switch.

Using the coils adds such twang and precussive response, it basically turns into a strat.

Be careful with ur primary setup. Take it to a tech!!!
I thought the bridge was broken cus i couldnt adjust the height. But!!! It has screws INSIDE the studs which u loosen and then adjust the studs height!

Also, if u may find ur low or high he closer to the fretboard edge than preferred, just remove the 4 screws that hold the body with the neck and tilt the neck in the pocket a bit (as desired), just screw it on and u re done!

First of all, many thanks to the staff at Thomann for delivering this guitar so well packed (double boxed) and so quickly. The guitar arrived in about 3 days to the UK without any major or minor defects (which is unusual for Ibanez), the wood is perfect, neck pocket is just about right - not too oversize which is common with the recent 2017 production Ibanez RG's. The neck is a dream to play and visually the guitar is a work of art, only took a few minutes to tune and adjust the action height.

My only gripe...? Why cant Ibanez be more consistent, this guitar proves that Ibanez can make a guitar of J-custom quality for regular RG prestige prices. This guitar has restored my faith in Ibanez!
