Great guitar but needs a setup first

This was my first time buying a guitar I had not played in person before and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised.

The guitar came with a very tigh neck and fretbuzz. The intonation was perfect luckily and the action was spot on. Low but not too low, although I did end up making it higher on the low end because I put heavier gauge strings. (String action I ended up with and that I really liked is about 1.25mm on high E and about 1.8mm on low E).
I put Elixir 09-46 because I prefer heavier lower strings and they give a nicer low end than standard 09s.
After adjusting the springs and dampening them, I adjusted the neck until the buzzing stopped and it had a proper amount of relief. I adjusted pickup height according to factory specs and plugged it in.

The guitar sounds great, you can hear and feel the differnece between this model and the cheaper Dinkies. The difference is enormous. The access cut for the higher frets is absolutely amazing. Never knew how much I needed it before. Absolute gem of a feature.
It plays absolutely fantastic, Floyd Rose works perfectly even after hours of playing only minimal tuning adjustments are needed.
The only thing I would like is a bigger neck, something like a Telecaster C shape. With that said, even though this is a slim neck, it is still comfortable for me to play.

In conclusion, this is a great guitar but it is going to need some love and setup right out of the box.

Excellent guitar, great build

I wanted to buy something more suitable for metal and this guitar was great out of the box. I found the factory pickups to be a bit muddy so I upgraded them to the Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickups from Thomann and this guitar is now a beast! Plays well, holds the tuning, and feels good. For the price it is great value.

Super guitare mais micros......

Je suis super ravi de cette guitare.

Lorsque je l'ai prise en main et joué la première fois, je suis resté sans voix.
Pas par la qualité du son, mais parce qu'elle était complètement déréglée.
J'ai donc du régler la courbure du manche, hauteur de micro, etc...

Ensuite je me suis lancé. Je joue du gros riff et remarque que le son est baveux, mais bon je m'éclate. Après 1 heure de jeu, j'ai les doigts tout noir et mon manche aussi. Je change donc les cordes et nettoie le manche par la même occasion avec de l'eau savonneuse.

Je recommence à jouer pendant des heures, car cette guitare m’ensorcelle carrément. Et là, d'un coup, le micro côté chevalet perd toute sa puissance. Il n'y a presque plus de signal de sortie alors que le micro du haut fonctionne parfaitement.

J'ai vu dans différents forums que les micros Duncan Designed HB-103 étaient d'entrée de gamme et de basse qualité.
Je viens donc de passer commande de micros Seymour Duncan Black Winter pour avoir un gros son propre.

En conclusion, je dois investir dans de nouveaux micros et affiner tous les réglages. Mais si j'ai choisi cette guitare, c'est surtout pour son look, sa couleur blanche et surtout pour son manche en érable clair et son accastillage doré.

Gute Gitarre

Positiv:
Für mich gute Holzauswahl. (Ich mag Pappel.)
Klanglich unplugged sehr schön (plugged siehe unten).
Optisch sehr schön.
Verarbeitung sehr sauber.
Der Hals ist ganz leicht dicker als bei anderen Jacksons. Trotzdem wie bei fast allen Jacksons: sie ist "wunder-leicht" bespielbar! :-)
Das FR Special tut seinen Job. Wer ein besseres Tremolo will kann upgraden auf das Original oder ein Schaller.

Negativ:
Die "Duncan Designed" Picks-Ups begeistern mich nicht. Sie sind jetzt nicht massiv schlecht, aber auch nicht top.
Ich tausche sie nun gegen original Seymour Duncans. Das war aber sowieso mein Plan. :)

Fazit:
Schade, dass sich für diesen Preis bei Jackson keine Marken-PUs mehr ausgegangen sind.
Ansonsten ist das eine Top Gitarre!
