Definitely specific
I bought this effect because I was looking for something darker and more mellow rather than a tube screamer. This isn't just for anyone and is probably not suitable for most players.
First off, the negatives; the build quality leaves a lot to be desired, while the box feels sturdy, the knobs feel very cheap tho its expected at this price, this isn't a problem for me because I almost always use the same settings but it's worth mentioning. The tone knob is very dark and only starts to give you a more pronounced tone at the very max setting. The boost only works if the overdrive is on and doesn't give much if your gain is already high. I wouldn't really call this an overdrive pedal, it's more like fuzz especially on high gain; with the HD-CLIP and MOS settings it gives very compressed and electronic sound, while if you choose any of the other settings its extremely dark and bassy.
It's not all bad tho; the boost is useful for switching between low and high gain quickly if you set it above 3/4. Though its not really overdrive at the settings i mentioned earlier it gives a nasty fuzz tone, very good for fast solos, I also like to set the gain low with STD and SMOOTH settings and add a bright and aggresive fuzz pedal, this gives me a very manageable tone good for almost any genre and playing style. The LED lighting also looks good if you're into that.
Overall if you're looking for a standalone plug and play marshall style overdrive, it's not for you; but if you like to experiment with different pedal combinations and fiddle around with the settings this can be a very versatile pedal and at this price you probably won't find anything better for this.
