Great studio monitors
In the past I,ve been mixing stuff with my headphones becouse of small child in the house. After few years it came time to buy studio monitor for my home studio.
I must say that todays technology helps to build good sounding monitors with good price. I was considering JBL, KRK, Adam Audio and Kali Audio.
KRK Rokit is very budget sounding and it’s good for rap, dance etc, not for me :)
Jbl 305 MK II is quite flat sounding but has huge low end, to big for me, maybe good for dub or dubstep not for me. Final battle was Kali LP-6 and Adam T5v.
Kali is definitelly more flat and have richer midrange, Adam is slight boosted in treble and bass. Both are really great but this midrange in Kali was crucial. Adam maybe is better for listening music, but I’ve choose Kali for mixing.
Important they are big :)
But I’m happy with this order.

The best studio monitors in this class!
For 20 years, I worked on the legendary Alesis M1 Active MK2 monitors, which had a warm sound, great bass (although I preferred to plug the bass reflex ports since I worked in the near-field), and above all, were dead quiet with no self-noise (which was a crucial factor for me when creating ambient music). Because of that, it was really hard to find a replacement under €450 (approx. 2000 PLN) with similar specs. Reading many reviews, I was terrified to see how much the industry had declined, with modern built-in power supplies producing such loud self-noise.
I took a gamble, bought the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, and... I am very pleasantly surprised. If you crank the gain to the max, unfortunately, you can still hear some self-noise. However, I turned them down below 0, and they are truly quiet! I work in near-field and mid-field positions, so this is extremely important to me.
I am also highly impressed by their warm sound. Nothing will ever completely replace my old Alesises, but out of all the current products on the market, Kali is the only brand that can naturally take their place in my studio. I also really like the finish—I absolutely can't stand monitors with colorful accents. Highly recommended!
