Excellent Value, Great Build Quality, and an Easy Introduction to Multiscale
Mihao 03.07.2026
This is my second headless guitar. My first is a Hils HN3, which I've been using almost exclusively over the past few months. I've been very happy with it, although it took three different guitars before I finally received one that was free of defects.

What convinced me to buy the Larry Carlton X6 (Sire X6) was the promotional price and my curiosity about trying a multiscale guitar. The addition of a tremolo was another bonus, as my Hils has a fixed bridge.

Right out of the box, the guitar makes a great first impression. The overall fit and finish are excellent, and it looks much more expensive than it actually is. The pickups sound very good, with a noticeable difference in character between the neck and bridge positions, which I consider a big plus.

The factory setup is excellent. The string action is already low and could probably be lowered even further if desired. The neck is quite slim and very comfortable to play. The frets are level, there are no sharp edges, and there's no fret buzz anywhere on the neck.

I was pleasantly surprised by how natural the multiscale design feels. It took almost no time to adjust, and playing it is extremely comfortable. I also really like the string mounting system at the bridge. It's much more convenient than on many other headless guitars I've tried.

My guitar is the black finish, but it features subtle decorative details that give it a more premium appearance and make it stand out without being flashy.

One thing worth mentioning is that both the high E and low E strings sit fairly close to the edge of the fretboard. This requires slightly more precise playing, especially on the high E string, which can slip off the edge if you're not careful. I believe this is simply part of the guitar's design rather than an issue specific to my particular instrument.

The included gig bag deserves special praise. Although it's made of fabric rather than being a hard case, it feels incredibly well made and premium. The guitar is held securely inside and is very well protected during transport. Other manufacturers could definitely take a few lessons from Sire in this area.

This was my first experience with a Larry Carlton/Sire guitar, but I have a feeling it won't be my last.
