Moog Matriarch Dark

Let's be honest. For the price you can get a good polysynth and a monosynth, but since you are interested in modular synthesis you compare the price of 4 moog OSCs, a dual stereo ladder Filter, the vintage stereo analog delay, plus envelopes, plus mults, plus attenuverters, plus LFOs... and suddenly you decide it could be actually a bargain.

Then you hear it, and suddenly the decision is not rational anymore. It can sound vintage a la moog voyager, it can sound classical, and it can sound many many more other ways, as soon as you begin to patch the cables.

And it always sounds good. The huge sweet spot makes of this instrument a very nice platform to experiment and discover different soundscapes, because no matter what you do, it always delivers. There are other fantastic synths nowadays with much more advanced specs... but this one is all about the sound.

Ich hatte ein bisschen Angst vor diesem Teil, bevor ich's gekauft habe. Angst vor dem Preis, Angst vor der Bedienung, Angst davor, dass man keine Patches speichern kann. Ich bin es gewohnt, Programmable Synths wie der Minilogue, Prophet, oder OB-6 zu spielen, wo ich sorgfältig meine Patches baue und sie sorgfältig abspeichere.

Für mich ist Matriarch ein ganz anderes Instrument. Es engagiert mich aktiver als alle o.g. Synths, insofern dass ich immer an meinen nächsten Zug denke, wo ich hin will. Das verunsichert einerseits, aber macht gleichzeitig unglaubliche Laune.

Matriarch wird nicht meine anderen Synths ersetzen, sondern ergänzen. Heute habe ich's zum ersten Mal zur Bandprobe mitgebracht und es hatte eine ziemlich positive Wirkung nicht nur auf mich, sondern auf die ganze Band und unsere Musik.

Der Sound ist der absolute Wahnsinn. Klar, es ist ein Moog – Stereo Ladder Filters (2!), feinste Sahne, die besten Oszillatoren im Game, die schön zerren nach analoger Art jenseits von 12 Uhr, und das Stereo Delay, das sich anfühlt wie eine warme Umarmung. Achtung, kitschige Rezension, aber auf diesen Synth reagiere ich auf eine viszerale Art.

Ich war schon so begeistert von meinem neuen Matriarch, dass ich gleich ein paar Wochen später einen DFAM zur Ergänzung gekauft habe. Am Tag danach habe ich eine Mother-32 bestellt und jetzt ist mein Konto am Ende aber der Subharmonicon kommt bald. Und ich bin glücklich :)

We already know from the original Matriarch how amazing this synth is.
The stereo features make it really unique.
But now that we have this new look. Just wow.
It really does remind you of the first System 55 modular system. It brings me so much joy just to look at it. In my opinion you should not hesitate to pay the extra 200 for the dark edition. It is definetly worth the money
