If your fiddle is warm and richly expressive until you hit the E string, but then becomes hard & metallic in tone, try this Pirastro Gold. I use Evah Pirazzi strings and this transformed the top octave of my violin, matching the tone of the other strings perfectly. I will not be going back....

I paired the Pirastro Gold E (Medium) with a Thomastik Dominant set on my Stentor Verona, and the result is excellent. The Gold E adds a smooth, warm tone without the harshness some E strings can have, and it blends nicely with the Dominants. Clear response, no whistling, and a noticeable upgrade in projection—especially on the upper register. Highly recommended combo for intermediate violins like the Verona.
