Excellent balanced sound for toms

I have tried various skins on my drum kit over the past 20 years including coated and non-coated versions of Remo Pinstripe.

This coated Pinstripe sounds fantastic on my small tom tom. It was easy to tune and gives a great warm but direct sound with great control of overtones, without being in any way dull.

I have these on my three toms (13", 14" and 16") and mix them with Remo Powerstripe heads on the snare (14") and bass drum (22"). All the toms have clear Remo ambassadors as resonant skins. This combination sounds great and the drums stay nicely in tune despite being packed and transported regularly.

I would highly recommend these skins and the Thomann price and service is great!

Ich benutze dieses Fell vor allem um bei recordings einen fetten, rockigen Tomsound zu erzielen. Dafür hat mich das pinstripe noch nie enttäuscht. In Coated sind die pinstripes klanglich etwas wärmer, runder als die clear Variante, haben dafür ein Mü weniger Attack.

Pinstripes funktionieren meiner Ansicht nach ausschließlich in tiefen bis sehr tiefen Tunings. Und eine "sensible Ansprache" dieser Felle sollte man auch nicht erwarten, die Dinger sind doppellagig mit verklebtem Dämpfungsring am Rand - sprich: da muss man ganz schön draufhauen bis ein Ton rauskommt.
Für Vintage Drums mit runder Gratung kann ich die Felle nicht empfehlen, das klingt dann einfach nur noch tot, ansonsten für Rock - Topp!

Pro:
- fetter, tiefer Rock Sound
- langlebig
- absolut recordingtauglich
- leicht zu stimmen

Contra:
- nicht sehr vielseitig im Klang

Für einen trockenen Sound

Ich habe diese Felle gekauft, weil ich auf der Suche nach einem trockenen, kurzen Tomsound mit wenig Obertönen war - und dafür sind die Felle sehr gut geeignet. Die Beschichtung macht den Sound sogar noch etwas dumpfer, allerdings löst sie sich bei etwas härterer Spielweise stellenweise auch recht schnell - aber noch im Rahmen des zumutbaren.

Fazit: Für obertonarme, kurze Tomsounds genau richtig.
