After one year with Linnstrument, I can honestly say that it has changed the way I approach music in a good way. Haven't been blessed with the talent/patience to learn neither piano nor guitar, I'm finally able to 'understand' music theory and play some tunes, all thanks to the isomorphic layout of Linnstrument. On top of that, it's a sound designers dream to be able to program patches for such expressive instrument. You can cover wide range of sonic expression with minimal finger movements/gestures and some clever parameter mapping that it really gets into the acoustic instruments territory. New features are being added constantly with every firmware update. Roger Linn has individual approach to every his customer which is something you don't see often these days. The hardware is well designed and executed and is relatively easily serviceable by end user (i.e. disassembly for cleaning of the silicon sheet). I'm really considering getting a smaller brother - Linnstrument 128 just for traveling.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this technology marvel to any modern musician. Layout is perhaps closer to guitarists/bass players, for pianists there is Roli range of expressive keyboards but Linnstrument can operate standalone, without the need of connected PC thanks to set of classical MIDI connectors.
