I've tried this directly over triple mesh head and after one song I've started seing some slight black marks over the mesh. So I added Evans EQ Patch EQPB2. Overal even without the patch the attack is reduced with this beater, the tone is lower but the overal dB's are similar, maybe 1 or 2 dB's lower than the plastic beater with the same Evans patch.
So far I like those beaters, their feel is good while playing. Let's see how long they will last as the cost is pretty high compared to other brands, I suppose they should last longer for that price. And yes I understand they are designed speciffically for the KDQ-8 kick drum which is has a rubbery head so the patch I'm using may affect longetivity in a bad way.
Edit:
Well that was quick, just after two months with about 1 hour per day the beater teared.
I suppose that in combination with Evans EQ Patch EQPB2 is not working well regarding durability. Otherwise I'm happy from the performance and lower noise compared to all other options.
