Schoeps CMC 1 U

I have a small arsenal of Schoeps. They work for everything and there is an ideal collette capsule for any recording situation. Their system is ingenious, the sound is beautiful, and I happily prefer them to any other microphone on pretty much anything.

The CMC 1 amplifier is just a further improvement of an already fantastic microphone. The size is so diminuative and discreet, yet boast improved specifications and shielding over the larger CMC 6. There is no downside or compromise to these amp bodies or their corresponding capsules.

The machining and production quality on these is also a step above any of the competing brands. There is a comforting weight to each component, and a satisfying smoothness when assembling them.

It speaks volumes that capsules and bodies manufactured years (or decades) apart can be used as matched pairs. And a comfort to know that the elements of the collette system are compatible and consistent going back to 1974, and can be easily serviced and maintained to original specs. They're a lovely company to deal with as well.

Da bei mir alles ultra-mobil sein muß, führte kein Weg am CMC 1U vorbei. Obwohl ja die Maße abgedruckt sind, ist man dann doch nochmal überrascht, wie klein das Teil wirklich ist. Aufpassen muss man daher, wenn man z.B. zusammen mit der 8er-Kapsel eine MS-Anordnung aufbauen will. Es bleibt kaum Platz für entsprechende Klammern (z.B. Rycote), die zwei Mikros stacken. Das Mittenmikrofon muss dann dasjenige sein, welches in der Mikro-Klemme steckt und CMC 1U+Mk8 wird draufgeklemmt. Andersherum geht es nicht.
