Organismic sequencer

New sequencer design without a defined tempo or measure and with freely configurable playback structure
The Ornament-8 provides eight independent cells that are activated/deactivated with impulses and held for an adjustable time
A sequence is generated by creatively daisy-chaining cells using patch cables
Available for each cell are: Inputs and outputs for CV and triggers, trigger outputs for Lyra-8 and Pulsar-23, bypassing or doubling a cell’s duration, phase switch, adjustable cell duration, and buttons for cell activation/deactivation
Four freely assignable gate-to-trigger signal converters
Four adapters from 3.5 mm mini-jack to metal pins
12 V DC power output for external devices
Voltage range: 0 – 10 V
Cell duration: 50 ms – 5 mins
Dimensions (W x D x H) : 266 x 255 x 54 mm
Weight : 1.4 kg
Includes 12 V DC power supply, power cable for external devices, and patch cables (14 x 30 cm and 12 x 65 cm) with crocodile clips

I was looking for a sequence for generative, ambient music and this one fits the bill! Despite the many wires, the Ornament, like most of what Soma creates, is intuitive and a pleasure to use. This is the first sequencer that feels more like an actual instrument, as opposed to a utility device. It also forces you to think about sequencing and synthesis in a different way, which is always good for the brain.

Le complément indispensable de Lyra-8 !!!

Lyra-8 est (à mon gout) le meilleur synthé de drones du marché mais ... c'est un instrument qui monopolise les deux mains (comme tout instrument finalement ;-)). Du coup, pour l'intégrer dans un setup avec d'autre machine, c'est là que l'Ornament est indispensable.

Bien que déroutant au début (c'est pour ça que je ne mets pas 5/5 à "utilisation") : cellules à la chaine, pas indépendantes + comprendre, interpréter le patchage, le concept du séquençage est terriblement performant et permet des séquences évolutives, synchronisées ou pas, pendant plusieurs heures.
Quoi de mieux pour des drones :-) ?

J'utilise aujourd'hui le duo Ornament/Lyra dans un setup modulaire piloté par une octatrack.
Et comme à chaque fois avec SOMA : c'est du lourd (dans tous les sens du terme) et ça va bien plus loin que ce qu'on peut imaginer.

Hyvin markkinoiu mutta täysin turha vekotin. Pystyt sekvensoimaan lyraa, myöskin hintaan nähden täysin turha laite, saat samaa ulinaa edullisemmin jopa eurorackillä. Tavallaan hyvä idea mutta hankalasti hallittavissa, liitännät puutteelliset. Jopa lyraa varten joudut vielä hankkimaan erillisen adapterin. Pulsarin kanssa toimii suoraan mutta max 4 kanavaa ilman erillistä kikkailua
