I switched to this throne some 5 years ago and ever since haven't had any lower back pain after rehearsals, which used to plague me after many hours of playing. It's very well made and, surprisingly, not too heavy (lighter than my old DW drum throne from 1990s). Not as stable as the DW, though - there's a tiny bit of play in the tripod, even after tightening, but not really noticeable when playing.
I do recommend to keep the column clean and lubricated with silicone spray (like for bicycle shocks), as is recommended in the user manual. I neglected it the first time I bought the Ergo Rider Hydraulic and after a few years it started dropping a bit by itself, which is why I'm giving it only 4 starts for the quality of construction - my home office chair is 20 years old and the air column works perfectly, although I've never cleaned it.
