Vox Mark V mini Phantom WH

The good - the pickups sound great, it stays in tune and the electronics work well. Finish was was excellent, tuners and bridge work well, especially given the price point. Surprisingly comfortable and well-balanced when strapped on too.

(Pro tip - don't leave this in E-standard, but tune everything up to G-standard and it really zings.)

The bad - quality control on the neck. Frets were very rough with some sharp ends, fingerboard was dry (and dirty) and the plastic nut was one of the worst cut I've seen on a stock guitar - the B and G strings were closer together than all the others and everything was too high apart from the A which was too low. You expect some rushed work at the factory on the cheap end but this was particularly bad.

Now... that doesn't bother me too much (I dabble in guitar repair and cut a new nut for it and tidied up the frets) but you might find yourself returning a few of these until you get a good one. It's a shame though - because it's a great, unique little instrument otherwise.

Es un muy buen instrumento. Tras cambiarle las cuerdas (para adaptarlo al uso que le voy a dar) y quitarlo (solo requirió pequeñas manipulaciones en los tornillos del puente), quedó perfectamente afinado y quitado, sin roces sobre ningún traste ni ningún ruido extraño. Los trastes vienen perfectamente liados, y el acabado general es muy bueno. Otros pros son que las pastillas suenan muy bien ( tan bien como unas fender Yosemite que tengo instaladas en una telecaster), las clavijas son las apropiadas para un instrumento de pequeño tiro (tengo una mucha experiencia con instrumentos pequeños tipo mandoguitar ras, mandola, etc) y se que requieren un tipo de clavija un poco especial, y estás lo son. Por otra parte las cuerdas atraviesan el cuerpo de la guitarra lo que debe ser unos de los factores que hacen que tenga un largo y precioso sustain. El instrumento está bastante bien compensado en cuanto a peso de cuerpo y pala, pero su forma lo hace difícil de sujetar estando sentado, por no tener una escotadura que apoye en el muslo, pero se soluciona fácilmente usando una correa común. Yo tengo los otros dos modelos de instrumentos mínimos de Vox, y en mi opinión este es el mejor de los tres, superando al tipo pera en estar mejor compensado, y al otro porque aquel solo tiene una pastilla. Aún así, es mi opinión que los tres son buenos instrumentos.
