Warm Audio WA-87 R2

It`s always hard to say something about the sound cause it`s s real abstract. So I`ve compared this very good looking mic with AKG C 414 XLII and:
AKG is ruthless, show the sound how it really is. If the source is bad (bad space, position, weak voice, instrument, etc) sounds horrible, if it`s good - sound natural (great).
WA is different! It will forgive you some imperfection (without exaggeration). It's not so damn clear as AKG, it`s a bit darker/warmer. But if I would say one word - it`s more musical. Hard to say if it`s good or not. If you need something more, some special character, some warmer way of your sound - choose WA.
It is very good mic! I like it!

Firstly, I would say this mic is the best vocal mic that I have ever owned.
I owned Shure beta58a, Share SM7DB, ATH AT4050. For sure this mic give me the most satisfaction, it's warm, full and presence.
The problem is that when I received my mic, I observed there is some small clicky sound inside the mic body.
It sounds like some small part has been apart from the circuit board.
I am not sure if this is a defect or a normal phenomenon, but for me, I get a bit nervous of the build quality.
Now working with the engineers for checking, hope it helps.
After all, I will still recommend this mic considering the price and sound quality.

Ich nutze das Mikro primär für Voice Overs in einem halbwegs akustisch gescheit "optimierten" Aufnahmeraum. Im Vergleich zu einem Sennheiser MKH416 (das zugegebenermaßen sehr stark betonte Höhen hat, aber dennoch sehr ausgewogen klingt und mein bisheriges Primärmikro war...) oder einem Neumann TLM 103 klingt es pur - ohne EQ - recht bedeckt - so als läge eine Decke über dem Mikro, was mich erst einmal sehr enttäuscht hat. Ich verwende ein UA Apollo Twin USB Interface und den Neve 1073 + EQ Channelstrip. Wenn ich hier eine leichte Anhebung beim Hi Shelf (liegt fest bei 12 kHz) und ein klitzeklein wenig bei 7,2 kHz fahre, klingt es wieder sehr luftig und klar in den Höhen. An anderen Frequenzen muss ich nicht rumschrauben - es klingt insgesamt sehr schön warm und rund. Was auch sehr schön ist: Es ist recht gnädig, was die ungewollte Aufnahme von Raumresonanzen angeht. Auch wenn - wie ich schon schrieb - mein Raum eigentlich ganz brauchbar klingt - höre ich bei anderen Großmembranern deutlich mehr unerwünschte Rauminformation. Haptik des Mikros und der Spinne sind super! Eigentlich müsste ich noch einen Punkt abziehen für die Feststellschraube. Alles ist aus Metall, nur diese Schraube nicht, die am meisten belastet wird. Unverständlich, wie man hieran sparen kann...
