Decent upgrade from the original

I had the original MODX8, but I never jived with the keybed. Despite this seemingly being the same GHS-keybed, Yamah has improved it to make it less noisy, and the velocity seems better calibrated. Also the added AN-X VA-synth engine really makes this a full package, a Jack-of-all-trades, if you will. Also the added front panel controls really help with live performances.

Above expectations

I have the MODX 8 and I'm still very satisfied even though I'll be selling it soon. The first thing I did was connect both the MODX 8 and the MODX M8 and I have to say that it's a step forward considering that the M8 has double the sounds of the classic montage. Both in terms of the 88-key keyboard and the quality of the sounds, which are fabulous. I've only listened with headphones for now, I'll soon try both in the PA system, but I predict that it will be fantastic, a beautiful instrument, a little more compact than the classic MODX but very beautiful.

Heel veel mooie sounds, en haast oneindig veel mogelijkheden om ze aan te passen naar je eigen smaak.

Voor bediening geef ik maar 3 sterren, want ik vind de user interface van het scherm eerlijk gezegd erg gebruiksonvriendelijk. Ik begrijp dat zoveel mogelijkheden complexiteit met zich meebrengen, en het kan zijn dat er ook een legacy meespeelt, maar ik vind de interface veel te rommelig. Het zal wel wennen.

Maar alles bij elkaar echt een mooi instrument waar je ook veel inspiratie uit kunt halen.
