Finally I can dial modern high gain tones(thall/djent) with minimal tweaking.
Coming from the focusrite 2i4 2nd gen I can say the Audient is incomparable in terms of sound quality, the JFET is really something else.
To give an example with the thall/djent tones with the focusrite I had to really hack my way to get a somewhat acceptable tone, this involved multiple gates in the amp sim and multiband gates before the amp sim on 1,2kHz and above at at least -60~50dB to compensate for the aliasing hiss and a second multiband gate on the amp out to the cab, in essence a lot of cpu power going to waste and less sound to noise ratio.
With this board all I need is a single multiband gate on the input to the ampsim on the same ish 1,2khz high band and I am done.
Additionally the focursite had a lot of brown noise from around 300hz up to the higher band that had to be compensated on very compressed tones and lastly the string noise is less present on the Audient ?
It is weird to me because it doesn't make sense or maybe I am not knowledgeable enough but I get less string noise when sliding my left hand on the fretboard with the same amp sim presets with no noise gate tricks or whatever, maybe the frequency response is more balanced with the JFET.
TLDR: If you're looking to dial modern high gain metal tones buy this audio interface without question, you're not going to regret it, it will save you time and nerves compared to the other overly advertised interfaces.
