I play guitar and I'm new to the bass world.
I'm a hobbyist musician and don't have a band or anything like that. I only play in my free time playing my instruments at home.
I've only had a Squier CV 70s JAZZ BASS MN NAT for a very short time and I've been trying to take it up a notch. Of course, the price difference between the two is noticeable. Definitely.
-PROS:
- A beautiful instrument from any angle.
- Very good quality sound.
- I've put D'Addario Chrome ECB81 LONG SCALE 45-100 strings on it.
- I wanted a 4-string bass and I don't miss the 5th string.
- I've achieved a very serious sound: jazzy, round, and deep.
- It's not the most important thing, but the completely rectangular plastic case can be used in any position.
CONS:
- I found some things that could be improved on the potentiometers. They work correctly, but Sire will have to fine-tune them further.
- I've also seen some negative comments on social media about the battery compartment for the active EQ. That's not a problem for me because I don't need that much sonic complexity. The passive sound is enough for me.
CONCLUSIONS:
It's a good bass for a musician of my caliber.
The change has been worth it for me.
I hope to enjoy it for a long time, and tomorrow we'll see what else our friends at Marcus Miller can do for us.
