Weight on the reed

I tried this ligature and preferred it with the flaps on the reed for a darker rounder sound that made a great increase in volume compared to a standard 2R dark. It was ideal on the acrylic Thomann Japan 6 tenor to make the sound rounder and tuning almost perfect. I also tried it on a Yamaha 5CM and Vandoren T45, it also made them feel louder and more resonant - with flaps under the cradle. This is a very useful ligature for being able to configure it.

...für einen sicheren Halt. Das Rovner sitzt gut am Blatt und umschließt das Mundstück sauber.

Bestellt habe ich es nur, weil mir die mit dem Tenorsax gelieferte Standardligatur zu filigran erschien. Dass die Ligatur Einfluss auf den Klang hätte, wollte ich nicht wirklich glauben. Nun aber scheint mir, als werde der Klang meines Rico M7 durch das Rover mit "ausgefahrenen Klappen" tatsächlich etwas gemildert, sind die Klappen hinter den Metallhaltern versteckt, wird's in den Höhen ein wenig schriller. Es mag aber sein, dass das lediglich der Eindruck ist, den der Spieler durch die Vibrationen des Mundstücks gewinnt. (Ich werde bei Gelegenheit dasselbe Stück mit verschiedenen Einstellungen der Ligatur aufnehmen; bin schon gespannt auf das Ergebnis.)

Abgesehen vom subjektiven Klangempfinden ist das Rovner ein netter Brocken, der allein schon durch Größe und Gewicht ein satteres Spielgefühl schafft.

I really like this lig. With a student mps it brought out strength, expressivity and excellent tonal range.

I’m currently using it with a Meyer mps, and I have never had such a broad warm sound top to bottom.

The ability to vary the characteristics of the lig means that I can work on a broad range of styles, and its inherent versatility allows excellent chiascuro and force from quiet to loud pieces.

Well impressed!
