Thorn Basstard - Flex Bass Overdrive

On receipt of the pedal I was immediately impressed with the packaging, included items and it's overall feel, reminiscent of brands which sell at a much higher price point.

The controls available allow for complete freedom to dial in the desired amount of gain while maintaining the tone of your chosen bass. Completely intuitive, nothing is missing but also there is no option paralysis like on some digital pedals.

I've tried many dedicated bass overdrive pedals that have left me deflated, not this.

1° LOOSE A LOT OF BASS you MUST crank up bass eq to make it EVEN (double down for 5 strings)
2° Distortion NOT Overdrive:
It distort even at the lowest settings NOT add Gritt (blend 100%)
3° the distortion still the same:
rise up become more and more fizzy (like an Odb3)
4° Drown you in the mix:
I've tryed play along, A/B test to match Volume etc. when you disengage bass came back to life (Precision, drop D, little compression BEFORE)

It's flexible just played alone, the sets are: distortion/evenmore fizzy distortion the classic "youtube magic sound" that is awfull played "normally", for bring back some "life" to the pedal you need to rise up the HEADROOM, that increase the distortion too! And if you rise up DAMPING even more bass are CHOP off an already bass cut pedal. (by design in this case)

The Good part on Youtube promos was the "rock" sound but works just alone, 0 transparency on a MONO-DIMENSIONAL chonky sized pedal... Not worth... or Totally if you need THAT sound

The pedal is good looking BUT be aware from any kind of dirt because the Switches are inside holes of the cases ( not the classic screw outside just for better understand ) at the 1st beer or the 1st rain can be an easy damage.
