Sounds better than on YouTube demos. I've been familiar with the SR-16 samples and was using its sounds internally in the DAW before. I decided to give a try to a hardware machine. It feels better. Maybe it's the converters, maybe it's the built-in effects, maybe it's the pan and vol settings, but this somehow comes across as more polished and ready to use. I like it a lot - great for the 90s/80s gated reverb snares, and those lovely, slightly cringe'y plastic drum sounds which are irreplaceable in the EBM, industrial, or even some vintage-inspired electro. Would I use it as a replacement for a real drummer? Absolutely not. Would I use it to get the lovely sound of the Sisters of Mercy / She Past Away / Lebanon Hannover and other bands of this type? Absolutely yes!
