Behringer RD-78

Eine CR-78 hätte ich schon immer gern gehabt, daher ein grosses Kompliment an Behringer für die RD-78. In meiner Packung fehlte die Bedienungsanleitung (eigentlich nur 8 Seiten), aber die lässt sich auch von der Herstellerseite herunterladen. Wie Behringers anderen Kisten in diesem Formfaktor (TD-3, RD-6) ist das Gerät aus Leichtplastik, was aber nicht weiter stört. Die Bedienelemente wirken stabil genug.

Zuerst bietet es sich an, ein Update durchzuführen, um die verbesserten Pattern und einen besser klingenden Guiro zu bekommen. Danach ist (wie in der Synthtribe-App angegeben) unbedingt ein Werks-Reset durchzuführen.

Die Bedienung ist einfach und schnell erlernt. Der Klang ist wunderbar nah am Original - wahrscheinlich für nicht-CR-78-Fans eher uninteressant. Der Guiro scheint nicht exakt wie beim Original zu funktionieren, aber dank des Updates klingt er bereits viel besser als vorher.

Das einzige schmerzhafte Manko ist, dass das vom Original bekannte Kombinieren verschiedener Werksrhythmen nicht möglich ist. Dafür können aber komplett neue Rhythmen erstellt werden, auch über die Synthtribe-App.

Let's be honest this machine sounds extremely close, and close enough to the original CR78. It cost around 6% of the original. It sound very tight and clean, they used the exact same circuitry which is a real tour de force for such price. It doesn't have any trig out which is surprising as they alway include it but the most surprising part is that the sequencer doesn't output the midi notes from the instruments being played and I would be really useful to control external synths (like the syncussion for exemple).
Technically the machine has a lot of internal trimmers for pitch and decay of the instruments which means it will be easily modifiable for direct pitch control of the kick and decay and others.
I would say jump on those before they are gone.
On the low note:
I unfortunately had an issue with mine and I hope it won't be the case with the replacement. The plastic casing was twisted, certainly due to being unmold too soon before total cool down. It seems to have damaged circuitry on the upper right side of the machine as all 4 last potentiometers and headphone jack are having bad connection and shorts. It could be the twisting putting pressure on the PCB.
I can't wait to get my replacement and put it through some mad delay.

Meer dan prima en betaalbare drummachine, gekloond van de CR-78 met extra’s. De clap is een welkome aanvulling. Nee, je kunt de geluiden niet van pitch veranderen en dat hoeft ook niet. Het is de kunst om zo creatief mogelijke ritmes te maken. Gebruik ook eens de random optie om een ritme te maken, het zal je verrassen.
De handleiding is eenvoudig maar niet altijd even duidelijk, er zijn al een paar tutorials opgedoken op YT.
Omdat knoppen verschillende/meerdere functies hebben, kan het lijken of het apparaat kapot is omdat iets niet lukt wat je verwacht. Maar meestal probeer je dan iets in de verkeerde modus. Bijvoorbeeld in play-mode proberen de scale te veranderen. Dat werkt niet. Dus let op in welke modus je zit.
Apparaat voelt lichter dan verwacht, is van kunststof.
De drumgeluiden zijn meer dan prima. Het is ook heel gaaf om al die bekende oude nummers na te maken. Kortom prijs/kwaliteit verhouding, meer dan prima! Aanrader.
